Tally of Chinese in Portugal rises 3.1 pct to 23,197 in 2017

Official data indicate that 23,197 Chinese were living in Portugal at the end of last year, 3.1 per cent more than a year earlier, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency, citing figures given by the Portuguese Foreigners and Borders Service, says that among the 400,000 or more foreigners living in Portugal, only Brazilians, citizens of Cabo Verde, Ukrainians and Romanians outnumbered Chinese.

Over half the foreigners living in Portugal live in or around Lisbon and the adjoining district of Setúbal, Lusa says.
