China, Mozambique to pursue US$100mln worth of projects

Representatives of the Chinese and Mozambican governments have signed agreements to co-operate on four projects in Mozambique together worth US$100 million, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says the agreements were signed in a meeting in Maputo of the Sino-Mozambican Joint Commission for Economic, Technical and Trade Co-operation, presided over by Chinese Vice-minister of Commerce Qian Keming and Mozambican Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation Maria Lucas.

The agreements are on the construction of a technical institute in the central province of Sofala, the construction of Xai-Xai Airport, Chinese technical assistance for the Zimpeto National Stadium, and exchanges of experts on agriculture and co-operation between them, Xinhua says.
