Brazil’s Vice-Minister of Trade and Services visits Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao

The Vice-Minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services of Brazil, Mr Douglas Finardi Ferreira, visited on June 1 the office of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao. The second Vice-Minister, Ms Renata Carvalho, and Brazil’s Representative at Forum Macao, Mr Rafael Rodrigues Paulino, accompanied Mr Santos Tarragô.

The Brazilian delegation had a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen. The Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by the People’s Republic of China) Mr Ding Tian; Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by the Portuguese-speaking Countries) Mr Rodrigo Brum; and Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by the Macao SAR) Ms Glória Batalha Ung were also present at the meeting.

In greeting the Brazilian delegation, Ms Xu gave a brief presentation on the activities carried out by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, vowing to promote further cooperation between China, the Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao.

Mr Finardi Ferreira thanked Ms Xu for her warm welcome and expressed his satisfaction for the opportunity to take part in the “Seminar on Trade in Services in Portuguese-speaking Countries”, held on June 1. He said additionally that the Brazilian Government attached great importance to Forum Macao, and would continue to support the work carried out by the Permanent Secretariat.

The Vice-Minister added he hoped all parties could continue to take advantage of the multilateral cooperation mechanism offered by Forum Macao and Macao’s role as a cooperation platform, in order further to boost economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on cooperation in several fields, including trade, services, innovation, e-commerce and Chinese traditional medicine.
