Chinese builder completes FPSO vessel for Petrobras

A subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd of China has completed the conversion of an oil tanker into a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Brazilian oil company Petrobras, Wen Wei Po reports.

The Hong Kong newspaper says the vessel, named Petrobras 75, can handle 180,000 barrels of oil and 7 million cubic metres of natural gas a day, and store 1.4 billion barrels of oil.

The report says the vessel can accommodate a crew of 158 and remain at sea for 25 years without any yard time.

Petrobras will use the vessel to exploit pre-salt oil fields offshore, Wen Wei Po says.
