Angola discusses US$15.5-bln in finance deals with ICBC and China’s export bank

The Angolan government is seeking more than US$15.5 billion from Chinese lenders, Lusa reports. The report by the Portuguese news agency references a prospectus for Eurobonds lodged by Angola. The prospectus says US$11.7 is being sought from ICBC – the world’s biggest bank by total assets – to pay for infrastructure.

works.Lusa says ICBC is also discussing a US$1.1-billion, 15-year loan to finance up to 85 per cent of the New Luanda International Airport, which is being built by Chinese companies outside the capital.

There are also ongoing talks with the government-run Export-Import Bank of China to finance the construction a new waterfront areaprecinct in Luanda, the electricity transmission system for the Lauchimo Dam hydroelectricity project and the Porto Amboim Navy Academy.
