Chinese Ministry of Commerce Spokesman Gao Feng has said Macao plays what he called a “unique and important” role in economic relations between Mainland China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.
Mr Gao told a press conference that in recent years Macao had served increasingly as a place where China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries conduct business.
He said the value of trade between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries grew to US$117.6 billion last year, 29.4 percent more than the year before.
“We hope Macao can continue to leverage its unique advantages to participate in economic and commercial co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries,” Mr Gao said, “to facilitate the co-development of Mainland China, Macao and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.”
