Resumption of Mozambican port project on the agenda

Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation José Pacheco has said Mozambican, Botswanan and Zimbabwean officials will meet soon to discuss resuming development of the deep-water port of Techobanine in the Maputo district of Mozambique, Rádio Moçambique reports.

The project entails construction of a 1,700km railway connecting Mozambique and the landlocked countries of Botswana and Zimbabwe, the Mozambican state-owned radio station says.

A consortium led by Chinese state-owned company China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd won the contract to build the port of Techobanine in 2016, according to the Macauhub website.
