China gives US$2 mln for relief of Congolese refugees in Angola

China has given US$2 million for the relief of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo encamped in the northern Angolan municipality of Lóvua, Angop reports.

The Angolan state-run news agency says the money was given last October, but announced by a Chinese diplomat only recently.

The report says the money has been spent on building 819 dwellings in the Lóvua camp – part of a programme of construction intended to yield 3,000 dwellings and three schools.

The camp holds 13,000 Congolese refugees, Angop says.
