São Tomé e Príncipe names first ambassador to China for 20 years

São Tomé e Príncipe President Evaristo Carvalho has appointed Isabel Mayza da Graça Domingos as the nation’s first ambassador to China for two decades, Lusa reports, citing an official dispatch.

The Portuguese news agency says Ms Domingos is a municipal mayor and a member of the legislature for the governing party.

The report says São Tomé e Príncipe and China resumed diplomatic relations in 2016 after a hiatus of 20 years.

China reopened its embassy in São Tomé e Príncipe last April and appointed Wang Wei as its ambassador, Lusa says.
