Brazil suggests new investment projects to China Three Gorges group

The Brazilian government this week gave a presentation to China Three Gorges Brasil Ltd on a number of investment projects Brazil would like to see pursued in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The event was reported by online news portal Macauhub, quoting Brazilian press sources.

The investment opportunities presented by Brazilian officials included projects in the fields of solar energy, fish farming and navigation in reservoirs of hydroelectric plants, said the media outlet.

The President of the Brazilian subsidiary of China Three Gorges Group, Yinsheng Li, and the company’s Vice President, João Meirelles, paid a visit on Monday to Governor Reinaldo Azambuja, in the city of Campo Grande, according to the news report.

At the beginning of this year, the Chinese group signed a concession agreement with the Government of Brazil for the right to run two hydropower plants – Jupiá and Ilha Solteira – in the South American nation, under a 30-year operating contract, Brazilian news agency Brasil had reported. At that time, the media outlet added that China Three Gorges would become the first foreign company independently to run a hydropower station in Brazil.
