Coffee brand from Angola begins exports to China

Café Cazengo, a coffee brand from Angola, will soon export its products to China, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported last week.

The first batch of exports involve a total of 54 tonnes of coffee products bound respectively for China, the United States and Portugal, said company representative José Gonçalves. He declined to discuss the financial value of those exports.

According to Lusa, Café Cazengo products are produced in Quiculungo, in the Kwanza Norte province.

Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola also quoted Mr Gonçalves saying the project was part of a strategy to diversify the economy of the African nation from the oil sector.

Angola now produces 15,000 tonnes of coffee annually with coffee exports valued at more than US$2 million last year, Lusa reported.
