Chinese contractor starts work on hospital in Mozambique

China State Construction Engineering Corp. Ltd says a subsidiary has begun building a hospital in the Mozambican coastal city of Beira.

The parent company issued a written statement quoting Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi as saying at the ceremonial start of construction that the hospital will be the biggest in Beira, and that the people of the city are excited by the prospect of a hospital that uses advanced technology.

The report says the hospital will occupy 14,000 square metres of land.

The building contract is worth 11.32 million euros (US$12.69 million), China State Construction Engineering says.
