Further Chinese firms to invest in Brazil solar energy: association

A Brazilian association is expecting an increase in the number of Chinese companies entering the solar energy sector of the South American country, Chinese newspaper China Daily reported on Monday.

Rodrigo Sauaia, Executive Director of the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar), told the newspaper that “2016 would be the year that many manufacturers arrive in Brazil”.

While some Chinese firms already had operations in Brazil, other Chinese groups were currently establishing a presence in the country and hiring staff, he said.

Mr Sauaia also noted financial institutions such as the Brazilian Development Bank could offer financing to those Chinese companies aiming to explore new solar energy-related opportunities in the country.
