Portuguese-speaking Countries increase presence at Macao’s environmental forum

More than 50 companies from Portuguese-speaking Countries are expected to take part in this year’s Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (MIECF), local newspaper Jornal Tribuna de Macau reported on Thursday.

The forum, organized by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), will be held from March 31 to April 2, in Macao.

“Portuguese-speaking Countries will have a larger presence [this year] than last year,” said IPIM’s Executive Director Irene Lau, quoted by the newspaper.

According to Ms Lau, until Wednesday, a total of 57 companies from Portuguese-Speaking Countries had already signed up. At least 30 come from Portugal, she said.

This year’s MIECF — in its 9th edition — will have more than 460 exhibition booths, according to the latest information, which already represents a year-on-year increase, Ms Lau said. She added she also expected an increase in the number of visitors.

So far, 25 protocols are already due to be signed during MIECF, “10 of which involve companies from the Pearl River Delta,” IPIM’s Executive Director said.

Organisers have already received “more than 510 [co-operation] projects on green building, environmental services, green energy and waste filtering,” Ms Lau said. “We will organise 300 exchange sessions,” she added.
