Portugal-China economic talks held in Lisbon

The 9th Portugal-China Joint Economic Commission was held on Friday in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, to discuss bilateral co-operation, Portugal’s Government announced.

According to a press release, the Portuguese Secretary of State for Internationalisation, Jorge Costa Oliveira, and the Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce, Zhong Shan, jointly presided at the meeting.

It reviewed the current state of bilateral co-operation and discussed how to improve the bilateral economic environment to benefit companies from both countries.

“Having always in mind the interests of Portugal and of the People’s Republic of China in consolidating the Strategic Partnership established in 2005, both parties will work even harder to develop co-operation between companies from both countries,” the Portuguese Government stated.

Officials also analysed options to boost further the economic and trade investment opportunities between the nations. There was also some consideration of opportunities potentially involving third-party nations, the Portuguese Government said.
