Brazil agri exports to China almost doubled in February

Brazil’s exports of agricultural produce and livestock to China nearly doubled year-on-year in February, online news portal Macauhub reported.

Such exports increased that month by 95 percent from the previous year, to reach US$1 billion, the media outlet said, quoting official figures.

Brazil’s Secretariat of Agribusiness International Relations at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply released the data last week.

According to Macauhub, soya beans were the main product, among agricultural produce and livestock, exported by Brazil to China in February. Brazilian soya bean exports to China last month reached US$555.3 million, compared to US$193.2 million in February 2015.

Cellulose was the second main product, in the group of agricultural produce and livestock, exported by Brazil to China in February, followed in the rankings by cane sugar and beet sugar. Both those commodities registered year-on-year increases in sales value last month.
