Diplomat says Chinese may invest US$10 bln in Angola

A Chinese diplomat in Luanda has said Chinese may invest US$10 billion in manufacturing, agriculture, scientific research and other ventures in Angola, Angop reports.

The Angolan news agency quotes Counsellor Li Bin as saying so at the opening of an exhibition of photographs in the Angolan province of Huila which marks 36 years of Sino-Angolan relations.

Mr Li said such investments would contribute to the economic and social development of Angola.

He said the Chinese authorities would keep pressing Chinese to invest in Angola.

In the past 10 years Chinese companies have rehabilitated 2,800 kilometres of railway and 20,000 kilometres of roads, and built over 100,000 homes in Angola, Angop quotes Mr Li as saying.
