Xi Jinping willing to work with new Brazilian govt

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said his government is willing to co-operate with the new government in Brazil to boost the Chinese and Brazilian economies and forge Sino-Brazilian links of pragmatic value, Agência Brasil reports.

The Brazilian state-run news agency says Mr Xi says so in a letter delivered in person to newly sworn-in Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro by a Chinese senior lawmaker, Ji Bingxuan.

Mr Xi wrote that Sino-Brazilian relations have been developing appropriately for 44 years, Agência Brasil says.

Separately, Xinhua reports that Mr Ji told Mr Bolsonaro China was willing to develop the Sino-Brazilian partnership and increase bilateral exchanges.

Mr Bolsonaro told Mr Ji that the new government in Brazil attached great importance to Sino-Brazilian co-operation, and was willing to build on the relationship between their countries, the Chinese government-run news agency says.
