Brazilian coffee producers aim for Chinese market

Brazilian coffee producers want a bigger share of the Chinese market, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says at least 12 Brazilian coffee producers will exhibit at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.

The report quotes an official of the Brazil Foreign Trade Promotion Agency, Igor Brandão, as calling the expo “a great platform for supporting and promoting the entry of Brazilian brands into the Chinese market”.

Mr Brandão said Brazil sold just 0.2 percent of its coffee in China at present.

“We have a lot of room to grow in the Chinese market for specialty coffee,” he said.

The owners of several brands of Brazilian coffee are coming up with advertising campaigns aimed at Chinese consumers, Xinhua says.
