Academic sees opportunities for international co-operation

An academic has said opportunities abound for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the lusophone world to co-operate in the fields of energy and commodities, Sina Finance reports.

The Chinese news website quotes Shanghai Jiao Tong University Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance Deputy Dean Zhu Ning as saying so at an international conference now taking place in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin.

He said Macau, although smaller than Hong Kong, was an important offshore market for the renminbi because of its relationship with the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Sina Finance quotes Prof. Zhu as saying Macau can increase trade and other economic exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking world.
