Mozambican Q2 exports grow 12.4 pct, imports 30.1 pct

Official figures indicate that the value of Mozambican exports in the second quarter of this year was 12.4 percent greater than a year earlier, O País reports, without giving the value.

The Mozambican newspaper, citing figures given by the National Statistics Institute of Mozambique, says the value of second-quarter imports rose by 30.1 percent.

The report does, however, say the Mozambican second-quarter trade deficit was US$362 million.

The newspaper quotes the institute as saying the second-quarter turnover of the catering, accommodation and similar services industry was 12.2 percent greater than a year earlier.

Mozambican hotels had 2.5 percent fewer guests in the second quarter than a year earlier, O País says, while the number of overnight stays also fell 4.1 percent.
