Diplomat says nearly 3,000 Chinese living in Cape Verde

The Cape Verdean ambassador in Beijing says the number of Chinese living in her country numbers almost 3,000 people, Chinese Social Sciences Today reports.

The Chinese newspaper quotes Ambassador Tânia Romualdo as saying Chinese people and enterprises play an important part in strengthening ties between Cape Verde and China, increasing exchanges between citizens of each country and creating jobs in Cape Verde.

Ms Romualdo said about 50 Cape Verdeans were living in China, many in Macao, and that about 350 Cape Verdean students were studying in China.

The ambassador said she would endeavour to strengthen Sino-Cape Verdean ties through trade, academic exchanges and tourism, Chinese Social Sciences Today says.
