The value of trade between China and Africa reached US$85.3 billion in the first half of this year, 19 percent more than a year earlier, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese Government-run news agency, citing Ministry of Commerce data, says Chinese imports from Africa in the first half increased by 46 percent to US$38.4 billion and Chinese exports to Africa increased by 3 percent to US$47 billion.
The report quotes Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng as saying that until the first half of this year Sino-African trade had shrunk since 2015.
Angola, South Africa and Nigeria were China’s top three trading partners in Africa in the first half.
