Alibaba Group to hold e-commerce conference in Portugal

Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd will put on its first conference in Portugal on November 29, with a view to enticing Portuguese companies to use it to sell online, the Portuguese trade and investment agency, AICEP, has announced.

In a written announcement, AICEP says the conference programme indicates that Alibaba Group General Manager for Europe Terry von Bibra will tell the gathering about the new retailing strategy his company will follow, and that Alibaba Group Business Development Manager for Spain and Portugal Alba Ruiz Laigle will speak about the opportunities the company offers exporters and e-commerce enterprises.

The announcement says representatives of AICEP and Alibaba Group will sign a strategic development agreement during the conference.

The conference is being arranged jointly by AICEP, Alibaba Group and Millennium BCP, a bank in which Chinese conglomerate Fosun International Ltd has the biggest stake, AICEP says.
