Alibaba to offer cloud computing service in Brazil

Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd will offer its cloud computing service in Brazil to help other Chinese enterprises there, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says an Alibaba Group subsidiary, Alibaba Cloud, and UOL Diveo of Brazil have agreed after three months of negotiation that UOL Diveo will resell the Alibaba Cloud service in Brazil.

The report says Alibaba Cloud will begin operating in Brazil in the months to come.

It quotes UOL Diveo Chief Executive Gil Torquato officer as saying Alibaba Cloud is acting on a request by a Chinese company operating in Brazil.

The deal also presents an opportunity for Brazilian enterprises in China, Xinhua quotes Mr Torquato as saying.
