Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Cai Run has said companies with Chinese capital there employed about 42,000 people at the end of last year, according to Diário de Notícias.
Mr Cai says so in a written statement published by the Portuguese newspaper which lists the results of Sino-Portuguese cooperation in the past 40 years.
The Ambassador says Chinese companies have invested about 9 billion euros (US$10.11 billion) in Portugal, 4.5 billion euros of it in the energy industry and 3.2 billion euros in the finance industry.
He said the Sino-Portuguese relationship had never been better.
Chinese and Portuguese enterprises collaborate in penetrating markets in Europe, Latin America and Africa, particularly markets in lusophone countries, the published statement says.
