Angola delegation in Beijing to nurture closer ties

A delegation of members of the Government of Angola led by State Secretary for Cooperation Ângela Bragança is meeting with Chinese counterparts starting today in Beijing. They will discuss furthering co-operation ties, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

It is the second time in approximately four weeks that Ms Bragança has visited China. She led a delegation to Beijing at the end of April with an aim to strengthen bilateral co-operation.

Ms Brangança is visiting China to participate in sessions of the Guidance Commission for Economic and Commercial Cooperation between Angola and China. The talks will focus on possible new funding to support development of the African country, as well as on plans to deepen bilateral co-operation in the short- and long-term.

“Agriculture, energy, industry, mining and training” are among the potential new areas of co-operation between the two countries, the Angop report added.

Official figures show bilateral trade between China and Angola reached US$5.68 billion in the first quarter of this year, down by 40.34 percent from previous year.
