Angola to allow timber exports from Cabinda to resume

Angolan Minister of Commerce Jofre Van-Dúnem Júnior has said the suspension of exports of timber from the northern enclave of Cabinda will end this week, Angop reports.

The Angolan news agency quotes Mr Van-Dúnem Júnior as saying all three companies licensed to export timber from Cabinda, including a subsidiary of Huafeng Group Co. Ltd of China, will be allowed to resume exports.

The report says the minister was speaking at the end of a two-day visit to Cabinda, after a meeting with representatives of the timber industry there.

During the meeting Mr Van-Dúnem Júnior sought to justify the six-month suspension, saying Angola was failing to benefit enough from the industry, Angop says.
