Angolan benchmark interest rate cut to 16.5 pct

The Angolan central bank has cut its main interest rate to 16.5 percent from 18 percent as inflation slows, Bloomberg reports.

The news agency says the cut is the first for four years.

The report says the annual rate of consumer price inflation fell to 20.15 percent last month, slowing for the eighth month in a row.

The benchmark interest rate may be cut again in due course, Bloomberg quotes the monetary policy committee of the central bank as saying.
