Angolan central bank cuts main interest rate

The National Bank of Angola has announced a reduction in its benchmark interest rate to 15.75 percent from 16.5 percent.

The Angolan central bank issued a written announcement saying it was keeping its kwanza currency reserve ratio at 17 percent and its foreign currency reserve ratio at 15 percent.

The cut in the main interest rate is the second since last July, the rate having been lowered by 225 basis points in the interval.

In adjusting policy, the central bank took into consideration the slowing of inflation, the kwanza exchange rate, and fiscal, monetary and external account indicators, the National Bank of Angola announcement says.
