Angolan president appoints Ambassador to China

President João Lourenço of Angola has urged ambassadors newly appointed to foreign countries, including China, to engage in more economic diplomacy, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Lourenço as saying at the oath-taking of nine new ambassadors that they should promote the goods Angola produces or will soon begin producing.

The report says the president told the ambassadors they should try to attract foreign investment to Angola.

The new head of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Beijing is João Salvador dos Santos Neto, who will replace João Garcia Bires as ambassador.
