Angolan trade minister to attend Shanghai fair

Angolan Trade Minister Jofre Van-Dunem Júnior will attend the China International Import Expo, which begins today in Shanghai, Jornal de Angola reports.

The newspaper quotes the Angolan Trade Ministry as saying in a written statement that the event gives state-owned and private Angolan companies a chance to show their business potential and make contact with Chinese companies.

The report says the Angolans at the event are looking for Chinese to form partnerships that can make the Angolan economy more diverse and less dependent on oil exports.

The delegation led by Mr Van-Dunem Júnior will remain in Shanghai until the expo ends on Saturday, Jornal de Angola says.

Last week the newspaper quoted an official of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola, José Alentejo, as saying at least 36 Angolan companies would be represented at the expo.
