Over 100 guests attended a gathering in Beijing to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Daily reports.
The Chinese Communist Party newspaper says that among those attending were Ji Bingxuan, vice-chairman of the Chinese legislature, the National People’s Congress Standing Committee; Chinese Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs Zheng Zeguang; and Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita.
The report says the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, an affiliate of the association, and the Brazilian Embassy in Beijing jointly arranged the gathering, held on Thursday.
It quotes the vice-chairman of the association, Song Jingwu, as telling the guests that Sino-Brazilian cooperation has benefited Chinese and Brazilians alike, deepened their mutual understanding and strengthened their friendship.
Sino-Brazilian ties have grown tighter and more diverse, and there is potential for cooperation in aviation, technology, innovation, finance, education and cultural affairs, the People’s Daily quotes Mr Estivallet de Mesquita as saying.
