BNDES forecasts Brazilian GDP will grow by over 3 pct in 2018

The Brazilian state-run development bank, BNDES, forecasts that the Brazilian economy will grow by more than 3 percent next year, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes the head of BNDES, Paulo Rabello de Castro, as saying the growth may approach 4 percent.

The report says that, in contrast, the median estimate of growth next year by private-sector economists polled by the Brazilian central bank was 2.51 percent.

The annual rate of expansion in Brazilian gross domestic product was 0.3 percent in the second quarter of this year, official figures indicate.
