Brazil and Cape Verde Ambassadors meet President Xi Jinping

The newly appointed Ambassadors to China from Brazil and Cape Verde presented on Monday their credentials to the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, the state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

The Cape Verdean Ambassador, Tânia Serafim Yvonne Romualdo, and the Brazilian Ambassador, Roberto Jaguaribe, were among a group of ten new diplomats who met with Xi Jinping this week in Beijing.

Mr Xi said – as quoted by Xinhua – China would continue to “strengthen political mutual trust” with those countries, as well as to “expand co-operation and cultural exchange”. He also pledged to support the Ambassadors’ work.

The diplomats, for their part, hailed China’s achievements and vowed respectively to work during their tenure to strengthen bilateral ties. They additionally stressed China’s important role in international affairs, according to Xinhua.

Mr Xi also received the credentials of diplomats from Lithuania, Slovakia, Finland, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Bolivia.
