Brazil ships China 5.07 mln tonnes of soybeans in November

Official data indicate that Chinese imports of Brazilian soybeans grew to 5.07 million tonnes last month, an increase of more than 80 per cent from 2.76 million tonnes a year earlier, Reuters reports.

The news agency cites figures compiled by the Chinese General Administration of Customs.

The report says China is the biggest buyer of soybeans in the world, and has been buying more from Brazil this year because of its row with the United States over trade.

China increased its import tariff on US soybeans to 25 percent in July, and last month it imported no soybeans at all from the United States, Reuters says.
