The volume of Brazilian exports of beef grew to 145,822 tonnes last month, nearly 13 percent more than the month before and 34 percent more than a year earlier, as Hong Kong and Mainland China resumed importing Brazilian beef, Reuters reports.
The news agency, citing data compiled by the Brazilian association of meat exporters, ABIEC, said the value of beef exports rose to US$607 million last month, 34 percent more than a year earlier.
The report says Hong Kong was the biggest importer of Brazilian beef, Egypt the second-biggest and Mainland China the third-biggest.
Exports increased after Hong Kong and Mainland China lifted bans on imports of Brazilian beef which had been imposed because of fears that it might be unsafe for consumption, Reuters says.
