Brazilian, Chinese presidents meet, advocate collaboration

Chinese President Xi Jinping has told Brazilian President Michel Temer that China and Brazil should work together more closely to liberalise and increase their trade, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says the presidents met yesterday in South Africa, on the sidelines of the summit meeting of the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) bloc.

The report quotes Mr Xi as telling Mr Temer that China is ready to join hands with Brazil to advance Sino-Latin American co-operation, and to increase co-operation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries in trade and other economic matters.

Xinhua quotes Mr Temer as saying Brazil considers the Chinese Belt and Road initiative important, and that it is willing to increase co-operation with China in trade, investment, infrastructure and energy.
