Brazilian industrial output begins growing again in April

Official data indicate that Brazilian industrial production turned upward in April, having fallen the month before, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency, citing figures given by the Brazilian statistics bureau, says industrial output expanded by 0.8 percent in April, having contracted by 0.1 percent in March.

The report says the output of 13 of the 26 industries monitored grew.

It quotes the statistics bureau as saying: “This is the best result since December of last year, when 23 sectors saw an advance.”

Automotive industry production grew by 4.7 percent in April and production of oil derivatives and biofuels grew by 5.2 percent, Xinhua says.
