Brazilian president, Chinese official discuss co-operation

Brazilian President Michel Temer and Communist Party of China Politburo member Yang Xiaodu have met to discuss ways to increase Sino-Brazilian co-operation, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says the meeting took place last week.

The report quotes Mr Yang as telling Mr Temer that Sino-Brazilian co-operation in many areas over the past 44 years has borne fruit.

Mr Yang described the relationship between the countries as mature and stable.

The report quotes Mr Temer as saying his government welcomes more Chinese companies to invest in Brazil in the interests of greater co-operation.

Mr Yang was in Brazil between Thursday and Saturday for meetings with various leading figures, Xinhua says.
