Brazil’s economy forecast to swing to growth, says central bank

An index that predicts Gross Domestic Product has forecast the end of Brazil’s recession in the first quarter of this year, the Government-run Xinhua news agency reports.

The Economic Activity indicator, an indicator of Brazil’s GDP, grew about 1.1 percent in the January-March period compared to the previous quarter, the central bank said last week.

Brazil’s economy contracted for two years in a row from 2015 with the government forecasting it would exit recession this year, growing by 0.5 percent.The Reuters news agency reports that Brazil created 59,856 paid jobs last month, the second month this year that jobs were added.
