Broadcaster debuts in Portugal by covering football in China

Broadcaster Eleven Sports will make its debut in Portugal tomorrow, transmitting live coverage through Facebook of the French Supercup football match between Monaco and Paris Saint Germain, which is being played in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, Lusa says.

The Portuguese news agency quotes Eleven Sports Non-executive Director Pedro Pinto as saying: “We will broadcast this match through a platform where fans are, and where we can interact with them.”

Mr Pinto described transmitting coverage of the match through Facebook as a historic moment for digital sports broadcasting in the Portuguese market.

Eleven Sports, a British company, owns the rights to broadcast matches played in the UEFA Champions League and Youth League, and in the top French and Spanish football leagues, Lusa says.
