The Portugal-China Young Entrepreneurs Association has said business groups in China and Europe have arranged a gathering of businesspeople in various industries in various countries, who will travel together by train from Beijing to Hong Kong, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency says the businesspeople will board their train in Beijing on October 9, and make stops in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong before ending their journey in Macau, where they will attend the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair.
The report says the gathering is meant to be first of a series on board trains in China and Europe, together called Business Rail.
It quotes the head of the association, Alberto Carvalho Neto, as saying he hopes further such gatherings can be held under the auspices of the Chinese-led Belt and Road initiative.
One such gathering, in 2024, would be aboard a train making the 10-day journey from Beijing to the western Russian city of St Petersburg on the Trans-Siberian Railway, Lusa quotes Mr Carvalho Neto as saying.
