BYD delivers 15 electric buses to São Paulo

The Brazilian city of São Paulo has taken delivery of 15 electric buses made by BYD Auto Co. Ltd of China, the China Internet Information Center reports.

The Chinese government-run website says São Paulo company Transwolff will use the BYD D9W buses, powered by electricity generated by BYD solar panels made locally, as part of a pilot project to serve the southern part of the city.

The report says each of the vehicles can carry up to 80 passengers, including passengers in wheelchairs, and can go for 250 km before its lithium-ion battery needs recharging.

São Paulo Mayor Bruno Covas and BYD Global Vice-president Stella Li attended the ceremonial handover of the buses at São Paulo City Hall, the China Internet Information Center reports.
