Cabo Verde govt, banks to arrange line of credit for enterprises

The government and banks in Cabo Verde have agreed to arrange for companies there to borrow up to €50 million (US$ 60.9 million), Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency says the government will subsidise the lending, so reducing the interest payable, and guarantee the loans.

The money is meant for investment in tourism, doing business abroad, innovation, trade, services, start-ups, micro-financing and micro-enterprises.

The report says credit will be made available in tranches of about €6.5 million every six months.

A small- or medium-sized enterprise may borrow just over €360,000 and a big company may borrow about €900,000, each for 15 years, Lusa says.
