An official of the Cabo Verde Ministry of Education has said secondary schools in his country will begin teaching their pupils Chinese in the next academic year, Inforpress reports.
The Cabo Verde state-run news agency quotes the official, Adriano Moreno, as saying in an interview that more Chinese teachers will be come to Cabo Verde to teach Standard Chinese.
The report says a trial of the teaching of Chinese began last year in three parts of the country.
Learning Chinese will give pupils a new medium for reading and research, and will be an advantage if they later go on to study in China, Inforpress quotes Mr Moreno as saying.
