Cabo Verde tourist price inflation 2.5 pct in Q1

The annual rate of tourist price inflation in Cabo Verde was 2.5 percent in the first quarter of this year, A Semana reports.

The Cabo Verde newspaper, citing the latest tourist price index compiled by the Cabo Verde National Institute of Statistics, says increases in rates for hotel rooms, on which tourists spent 73 percent of their money, were the main cause of inflation.

The report says other drivers of inflation included rises in prices in restaurants, cafes and bars.

Tourist prices were 0.9 percent higher in the first quarter than three months before, the quarterly rate of inflation slowing from 1.9 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, A Semana says.
