Cape Verde receives €10 mln funding for infrastructure projects from EU

The European Union’s regional programme for the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) will provide €10 million to fund energy, competitiveness and transport in Cape Verde, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency says the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Cape Verde, José Manuel Teixeira, announced the funding this week. The aim is to help develop the Centre of Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance in Cape Verde that can help develop trainers in the field of renewable energies.

Another project to benefit from the funding hopes to increase competitiveness among small- and medium-sized enterprises, Lusa says.

Mr Teixeira was quoted as saying the new funds supplement €55 million made available through the EU national funding programme for Cape Verde for 2016-2020.
