Cape Verde seeks Chinese money for maritime economic zone

Cabo Verde Foreign Minister Luís Filipe Tavares has said his government is seeking Chinese financing for the maritime special economic zone around the island of São Vicente, Inforpress reports.

The Cape Verde state-owned news agency quotes Mr Tavares as saying in Beijing, where the Sino-African summit meeting is taking place, that his government is also asking China for money for a new maternity wing in the Baptista de Sousa Hospital on São Vicente and for a national convention centre.

Mr Tavares and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet in New York between September 24 and 27 to talk about increasing Sino-Cabo Verde co-operation, Inforpress quotes the Cabo Verde foreign minister as saying.
