Cape Verde’s capital to provide land for Chinese cultural centre

The Municipality of Praia, in Cape Verde, says it is willing to provide land to the Cape Verde-China Friendship Association (AMICACHI) for construction of a Chinese Cultural Centre, Cape Verdean newspaper A Semana reported.

The media outlet cited a decision by the municipal authorities in the capital giving the association the right to use 1,115-square metres of land for a period of 75 years.

The newspaper added that AMICACHI had pledged to fund, build and manage the centre, as well as to make investments in the surrounding urban area. The association is also likely to seek funding for other municipal projects from the Chinese Government and from Chinese institutions and companies, according to the media outlet.

AMICACHI was established in 2011. It has since worked to promote exchanges and business between the two countries, the newspaper said.
